Description
These date brownies are my favorite healthy baked dessert I've ever made, and one you can certainly serve to a crowd without people realizing they're healthy. These brownies are much more than just a healthy substitute for the real deal, as they lead me to deleting my classic brownie recipe after tasting them. Gluten free, refined sugar free, only sweetened with natural dates (raisins will work as well) and bananas, and the only fat is delicious almond butter. Ingredients

- 1 cup, about 23 deglet noor or 7 medjool Dates
- 3 medium Banana, overripe
- 1/2 cup Almond butter
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Almond extract
- 1/2 cup Cocoa powder
Instructions

- Preheat the oven to 350F and line an 8" square pan with parchment paper. Spray the parchment paper
- In a food processor, blend the dates, bananas, and nut butter until a smooth paste forms. Blend in the rest of the ingredients.
- Any kind of unsweetened dried fruit wil work, not just dates. Try out dried figs, raisins, or prunes
- Any kind of natural nut or seed butter will work for this recipe. I prefer almond butter, but other good options are peanut butter, walnut butter, sunflower seed butter, or tahini. Just use something that's only nuts/seeds and salt, without any added sugars or hydrogenated oils
- Transfer batter to the pan. Optionally top with 1-2 tbsp (15-30 g) chocolate chips, minis preferred. Bake for 30 minutes uncovered. Let them cool completely in the fridge before slicing
