I have no idea where to file this. I suppose it's techinically a recipe, but not a food, so Meme Recipes it is. Is anyone else kinda freaked out about all the chemicals found in most cleaning sprays? Instead, we can avoid them with two simple 3 ingredient cleaners.
I'll be making 2 different cleaners: one with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), and the other with White Vinegar. The IPA one is for granite countertops, and the vinegar one is for the wooden kitchen table. DO NOT use vinegar on granite, as the acid can damage the stone. Likewise, DO NOT use IPA on wood, as it can damage the finish.
- Add all ingredients to a glass spray bottle, and shake to mix. Store under the sink
- Granite Countertop Cleaner: $0.65 for 16 fl oz
- 1/2 cup (120 g) 91% Isopropyl Alcohol ($0.53)
- 1.5 cup (360 g) Distilled Water ($0.09)
- 20 Drops (0.65 g) Lemon Essential Oil ($0.03)
- Wooden Table Cleaner: $0.33 for 16 fl oz
- 1 cup (240 g) White Vinegar ($0.24)
- 1 cup (240 g) Distilled Water ($0.06)
- 20 Drops (0.65 g) Lemon Essential Oil ($0.03)
- These homemade cleaners are also cheaper, as well as free of harsh chemicals. The Granite cleaner with IPA costs $0.04 / fl oz, and the Wooden cleaner with Vinegar costs $0.02 / fl oz. In comparison, Clorox All Purpose Cleaner is $0.15 / fl oz, nearly 4x and 8x the price of the granite and wooden cleaners, respectively.
